Ricky Ray Rosenberg was born on December 21, 1952 in Osage, Iowa, to Raymond Rosenberg and Barbara Pike. He attended Otranto, Carpenter, and St. Ansgar Community Schools, then NIACC and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was confirmed in God’s White Light at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar. His earthly life ended abruptly on November 5, 2018.
Rick lived his life simply, appreciating the things his beloved grandfather, Archie Pike, taught him. He loved nature and gardening and animals. He loved visiting with different people and talking about history and culture and politics. He enjoyed his life’s work as a police officer and security guard, a signal engineer and consultant for the railroads, a limousine service owner and entrepreneur, and a fitness owner and manager.
He mostly enjoyed being a father, an uncle, a coach, and a role model to those who looked up to him. He was a good man who stood up for those who were picked on. He worked hard and dreamed big. He loved to read and learn, and therefore his knowledge ran deep.
He had a strong appreciation for education and still had plans to return to college. He put others needs before his own, always willing to lend a helping hand or give direction or advice. He cared deeply for those close to him and who believed in him. He was blessed with a precious gift that carries on.
He is preceded in death by those he loved and held dearly. He is survived by many more that loved, admired, and respected him. Many souls have been touched by his presence and he will be greatly missed.
