Died: October 16, 2018
Sandra Jane Bower, age 86, of Osage, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, with her family at her side.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018, at United Church of Christ in Osage with Pastor Charles Owens officiating. Burial will be at the Osage Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:45 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Following the burial, the family will greet friends and a lunch will be served in the church fellowship hall.
Sandra was born August 3, 1932, in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of F. Stannard and Amy (DeLaney) Hill.
She graduated from Osage High School in 1950. Sandra married A.J. Balsley, to this union there were seven children. She was employed by Osage Community Schools as a secretary for 19 years. Sandra later married Birchard Bower in 1991. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Eastern Star, and the American Legion Auxiliary. Sandra enjoyed reading, letter writing, and collecting.
Sandra is survived by her children, Kent (Tari) Balsley of Nora Springs, Brad (Jill) Balsley of Orchard, Jayne (Jeff) Olsen of Osage, Ginger (Brent) Hanson of Ankeny, Richard Balsley of Huxley; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ron (Karen) Hill of Orlando, Florida; and two sisters, Carol Shanahan of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Kay Hill of Webster, North Carolina and special friend Pat Umfress.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Birchard; her daughters, Merry Lynn Balsley and Sandy Lang; a grandson, Blake Lang; and a brother, Keith Hill.
