Jake Jensen

July 7, 1991 - July 10, 2018

Jake Jensen, age 27, of rural Riceville, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at home.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 19, 2018, at LeRoy Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Sir officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Cemetery McIntire, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 18, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at LeRoy Lutheran Church and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Jake Tyler Jensen was born on July 7, 1991, in Cresco, IA, son of Eric and Monica (Owen) Jensen. Jake was an active strong young man who liked being outdoors. He spent his time shooting clays, deer and coon hunting with his friend Cole and cousin Grant. He also spent time riding his bike, snowmobiling, and going for walks with his dog, Elle. He enjoyed baling hay in the summer, caring for the farm animals, and all aspects of farm life. He also liked helping his Grandpa Bill with his cousin Christopher.

Jake had a passion for driving truck which stemmed from riding over the road with his dad. He liked working with his hands tinkering with and building things. He was thought of as the “spark plug” of the group with his quick wit and contagious smile and laugh. Jake had the ability to hold a conversation with anyone, and always made time to stop for Dairy Queen ice cream. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his parents Eric and Monica Jensen of Riceville, IA, sister Brooke (Levi) Sprung of Osage, IA, brother Jesse Jensen of Riceville, IA, paternal grandmother Lucille Jensen of Riceville, IA, maternal grandparents Bill and Karen Owen of Riceville, IA, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Jake was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Donald Jensen.
