June 22, 1946 - April 7, 2018

OSAGE, IOWA - Karl Schaffner, Jr, age 71, of Osage died Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage. Per Karl's request, cremation has taken place.

Memorial services will be held at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Rev. Roy Ott officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. There will be a gathering of family and friends from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home.

Karl was born June 22, 1946, in Jackson, Florida, the son of Barbara (Tancoast) Schaffner. He attended school in Florida. Karl served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he served three tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from the Army after 20 plus years of serving his country. Karl married Diane Elliott on December 9, 2003 in Osceola. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and traveling. Karl truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Karl is survived by his wife, Diane Schaffner of Osage; his sons, Ralph (Tammie) Curbert of Lowell, Arkansas, Vincent Kramme of Waterloo; granddaughter, Summer Kramme of Waterloo; brothers and sisters, Pam (Larry) Moss, Jan Schaffner, Karen Balmain, Lynn Margien all of Topeka, Kansas, Gary Schaffner of Bullhead, Arizona and Gene (Marilyn) of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his mother; brothers, Bob Schaffner and Glenn Schaffner.

In lieu of flowers – Memorials may be directed to the family.
