Michael Miller

August 30, 1938 - February 18, 2018

It saddens us to announce the recent passing of our father Michael Miller, 79, of Savage, Minnesota, and formerly of Fairmont, Minnesota and Osage, Iowa.

A celebration of life mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21st, 2018 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, MN. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at the Calvary Cemetery in Fairmont.

Mike was born on August 30th, 1938, in Fairmont, Minnesota, the son of Patrick and Amelia Miller, and passed away Sunday February 18th, 2018, at his winter residence in Mesa, Arizona.

Mike received his education from Fairmont High School, and secondary education at St. Thomas and Mankato State. On January 30th, 1960 Mike was united in marriage to Rose (Werner) at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Fairmont, MN. Together the couple made their home in Fairmont, later moving to Osage, IA, and was blessed with four sons, Michael Jr., Brian, Neil and Chris.

Mike worked many years with IMC and was President of the IA & MN Fertilizer and Chemical Associations. He spent his later years employed in the transportation industry. Mike spent countless hours volunteering with the Osage Jaycees, Little League, Conservation Club, Osage Green Devil Booster Clubs and the Osage Precisionnaires Drum and Bugle Corps.

He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage where he served as an usher and a CCD teacher. He loved family, faith, friends, and fun – always known for his shenanigans. Had many interests including; golf, target shooting, hunting, snowmobiling, fishing, and his memorable fish fries. Many of these memorable moments were shared with his close friends at Ole's Resort on Big Sandy Lake in McGregor, MN.

Left to cherish his memory are his children; Michael (Angie) Miller and their children, Mitchell and Sean Patrick; Brian, his daughter Jasmin (Joe) Perron and their children, Aiden, Zoey and Eliza of Lindstrom, MN; Neil Miller and his canine kids, Brodie and Lenna of Osage, IA; and Chris (Lisa) Miller and their children, Morgan and Levi of Farmington, MN; siblings Margaret Keffeler, Marian Rolling, and Clemet (Carol) Miller; in-laws Grace (Keith) Leibfried, Betty Lyons, Joyce (Nick) Purdin, Marvin Jr “Bob” Werner, Earl (Kathy) Werner, Art Werner, and Otto Werner; as well as many loving nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. Also, Mike's favorite canine buddy Bailey.

Mike was preceded in death by his wife Rose; his parents, Amelia and Patrick; his sister Kathleen Shaffer; brother-in-laws Ronald Shaffer, Tom Keffeler, John Rolling, Harry Werner, Kenneth Potter; sister-in-law Barb Werner; nephew Matthew Lyons; Father/Mother-in law Marvin and Hazel Werner; and best friend Dick Kusick.

Condolences may be sent to the family via Chris Miller at 5375 203rd St W, Farmington, MN 55024. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers you take a kid fishing.
