Jean Louise Clausen, age 95, of Osage, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the Riceville Family Care and Therapy Center in Riceville, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday March 19, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Osage with Pastor Gary Gilbert and Pastor Dan Christensen officiating. Interment will be at the Riverside Cemetery in Riceville. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Jean was born January 20, 1923, in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, the second daughter of Morris and Vera (Cole) Williams. They moved back to Osage, where she graduated from high school in 1941. She taught in a rural school for two years and then worked for the FBI in Washington D.C. for two and half years.
Jean was united in marriage to Leo Clausen on March 17, 1946; to this union three children were born: Harold “Zeke”, Leanne and Donald “Joe”. She was a farm wife for 27 years, until they moved to Osage in 1977. Jean then worked at the Maple Inn Café. She was a blood donor, giving four gallons during her lifetime.
She was a member of the David Community Church and Ladies Aid, V.F.W. Auxiliary and was on the Osage Senior Citizens board for 18 years, in which she served as their secretary for 16 years. Jean wrote the Senior Center News column in the Mitchell County Press-News for 20 years. She moved to Charles City in 2011 and was a member of the Charles City Senior Citizens.
Jean is survived by her children, Zeke Clausen of St. Francis, Minnesota and Leanne (Michael) Snyder of Wadena, Minnesota; daughter-in-law, Mary Clausen of Mulvane, Kansas; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five step grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Weed of Taylorville, Illinois and Suzanne Kostelac of Henderson, Nevada; a special niece, Darlene Summer of Floyd;many nieces and nephews.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo in 2003; son, Joe Clausen in 2013; two brothers, Keith and Dean Williams; two sisters, Dorothy Fagerburg and Mary Williams.
