EMILIE PRIEM SUCCUMBS ON NEW YEARS DAY
Mrs. Emilie Wilhelmine Priem, 85, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.J. Mueller, St. Ansgar, New Year's evening following a three weeks illness.
Mrs. Emilie Wilhelmine Priem, nee Paeper, was born July 9, 1851 at Stoeven, Germany. At the age of 21, she came with a brother to America and made her home at Columbus, Wis. In 1874 she came to Mitchell county, Iowa.
In 1875 she was married to Carl Priem. To this union was born eight children, six sons and two daughters. The family lived on a farm in Newburg township until 1895 when they moved to Otranto township. Mrs. Priem was preceded in death by one son, one daughter, and her husband. The latter died September 8, 1914.
The deceased enjoyed fairly good health up until about five years ago but was able to be up and about most of the time until November last when she went to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. C.J. Mueller. For the past three weeks she had been bed ridden.
She is survived by five sons, one daughter, 11 grandchildren, an six great-grandchildren. Funeral service were held Wednesday from Immanuel's Lutheran church, with interment at the Carpenter cemetery, the Rev. Paul Brammer officiating.
