Elderly Woman Dies
Of Hunger, Exposure

Osage, Iowa – (AP) – Injured and alone in her home for five days without food or fuel. Miss Christine Weiss, 72, died Sunday of hunger and exposure in a nursing home here.

The woman fell in the kitchen of her home near Mitchell River, Iowa, injuring herself.

She lay on the floor all night, but made her way to bed where she remained unattended five days until a neighbor found her. Her feet were frozen.

She came to America 25 years ago from Germany to keep house for an uncle, George Weiss, who gave her a little interest in his small farm.
