Duane “Dewey” Huemann, 81 of Stacyville, Iowa, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at the Mitchell County Regional Health Care Center in Osage, Iowa.

Duane was born on August 23, 1934, in Osage, Iowa, to Reynold and Barbara (Klapperich) Huemann. He graduated from Adams High School in 1952 and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. He often boasted of being stationed in Germany with Elvis Presley for a year.

Duane was a farmer for all his life and resided on the family farm. Most recently he resided at the nursing home in Stacyville, Iowa. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Johnsburg, Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents Reynold and Barbara Huemann, and sister Mary Ann Enright.

Duane is survived by his sister: Sandra (Roland “Ron”) Sanderson, Wabasha, Minnesota; brother-in-law: Lawrence Enright, North Branch, Minnesota; nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday February 16th, 2016, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Swaminatha Pothireddy officiating. Interment will be St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be by Adams American Legion Post #146. Visitation will be for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the Stacyville Nursing Home or to the Donor’s Choice.
