#3:OBITUARY--
Ann Louise Feldt
ST. ANSGAR, IOWA — Ann Louise Feldt, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in her home on Tuesday, February 9, 2016.
Funeral services will held Saturday, February 13, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Ansgar, Iowa, with the Rev. Dr. Byron Northwick officiating.
Burial will follow at Newburg Township Cemetery, Carpenter, Iowa.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, and one hour prior to service at the church.
Ann Louise (Gunsallus) Feldt was born on December 28, 1930, on a farm near Spring Park, west of Osage, Iowa, to James and Lola (Fehr) Gunsallas. They moved to the family farm north of Osage when she was a young child.
She graduated from Little Cedar School at 16 years old and enjoyed playing Girls Basketball. She studied business at Augustana College in Sioux City, Iowa, and later worked as a legal secretary in Osage.
Ann married Harold R. Feldt of Carpenter, Iowa, on December 5, 1953, at the First Baptist Church in Osage. She worked hard alongside Harold milking cows, raising hogs and chickens on Rose Hill Farm. To their marriage four daughters were born.
When her daughters were older she chose to work outside the home. She worked several jobs, including clothing retail, housekeeping services, manufacturing jobs and the Carpenter Postmaster for many years. Following her retirement Ann and Harold moved to St. Ansgar and made numerous travels including three trips to Europe, many trips in their motorhome across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and two cruises, through the Panama Canal and the inside passage of the Alaskan coast.
Ann’s hobbies include collecting ceramic head vases and spoons from her numerous travels with Harold. She loved bingo and playing bridge with her friends.
As a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church she passionately enjoyed making quilts with other church ladies for missions abroad and disaster relief. She was comforted in knowing the quilts would be used to share the Good News of Christ.
Ann is survived by her husband Harold of 62 years, four daughters, Rebecca (Duane) Fisher of Vinton, Cynthia (Larry) Kofoot of St. Ansgar, Deborah (Joe) Rogers of St. Ansgar, and Elisa (Don) Tennyson of Tuscumbia, Al; seven grandchildren, Andrew Fisher, Charles Fisher, Elizabeth (Brad) White, Sam (April) Kofoot, Kristen (Andy) Lindloff, Adam (Amber) Rogers, Ethan Feldt; and five great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is survived by two brothers, Dean Gunsallus of Manly, James (Phyllis) Gunsallus of Osage and three sisters, Evelyn Rosensweig of Casper, Wy, Shirley Fiser of Charles City, and Ruby (Larry) Fjetland of Edgemount, Alaska.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents James and Lola Gunsallus; two brothers, Robert and Keith Gunsallus and one sister, Betty Kozak.
The family would like to thank Harmony House, Waterloo and St. Croix Hospice, New Hampton for their kindness and compassion extended to Ann and the family throughout her illness.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Croix Hospice of New Hampton, or St. Ansgar Rescue First Responders.
