Raymond “Chuck” Steffen, age 91, of Osage, died Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center Hospice Unit in Osage.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 12, 2016, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 5:15 p.m. and a vigil service at 7:00 p.m.
Raymond was born February 2, 1925, at Riceville, Iowa, the son of Albert and Carrie (Schrieber) Steffen. He attended school in Riceville. Raymond married Violet Nicholson on January 6, 1945 in Osage. They recently celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Raymond worked for the Oliver Corporation in Charles City for 33 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. Raymond enjoyed sports, hunting, fishing, dancing, building bird houses, and spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Violet Steffen of Osage; his children, Dean (Diane) Steffen of Orchard, and Brenda (Dave) Meyerhofer of Riceville; four grandchildren, Gary (Verna) Steffen, and Jerry (Karen) Steffen, all of Cresco, Bryon (Rose Smith) Meyerhofer of Storm Lake, and Laura (Dan) Block of Northwood; twelve great-grandchildren, Garrett Steffen and Maddie Steffen, both of Cresco, Nathan (Courtney) Hansen of Elba, Minnesota, Ryan Steffen and Rachel Steffen, both of Cresco, Kaitlain Meyerhofer of Storm Lake, Keila Meyerhofer (Ben Larson) of Mason City, Taylor Meyerhofer of Storm Lake, David Block, Thomas Block and Annamarie Block, all of Northwood, and Tyler Smith of Storm Lake; four great-great-grandchildren, Easton Larson and Jaxon Larson, both of Mason City, Ashlyn Hansel and Coleson Hansel, both of Elba, Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers; and one sister.
