Gertrude Annette Sponheim was born December 14, 1922 at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa to Arthur Clarence Sponheim and Gertie Clarinda Maakestad.
She first married Lester Paul Chehock, they had no children.
After his death, she married Eugene C. Hugi on June 9, 1950 at Rock Creek Lutheran, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. They had five children.

1925: Arthur Sponheim 31, Gertie Sponheim 33, Horald Sponheim 5, Gertrude Sponheim 2, Lizzie Dynna 42, Morie Dynna 55, Lana Dynna 53,1930: Arthur Sponhinn 36, Gertie Sponhinn 38, Harold Sponhinn 10, Gertrud Sponhinn 7, Ruth Sponhinn 5 mos,Christ Brenden 52.
1940: Arthur Sponheim 46, Gertie C Sponheim 48, Harold E Sponheim 20, Gertrude A Sponheim 17, Ruth E Sponheim 10.
Gertrude Hugi died October 1963 at Mason City, Cerro Gordo, Iowa and was buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Mrs. Eugene Hugi Dies in HospitalMrs Eugene C (Gertrude Annette) Hugi, 40, Plymouth, died Thursday in a Mason City hosptial. She had taught school for 10 years in the Mason City, Iowa vicinity.
Mrs Hugi was born December 14, 1922 near Plymouth, daughter of Arthur C and Gertie Maakestad Sponheim. She was baptized and confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church.
She graduated from Plymouth High School and attneded the State College of Iowa at Cedar Falls and graduated from St Olaf's College, Northfield, MN.
She was married to Eugene C Hugi, June 9, 1950 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Annette and Julie, three sons: Leon, Steven and Hugh, all at home and her parents, Mr. & Mrs. Arthur C Sponheim; a sister, Miss Ruth Sponheim; brother, Harold Sponheim and grandmother Antonette Maakestad, all of Osage, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothe Eleanor and by her first husband, Lester Paul Chehock who died in Germany during the war.
Mrs Hugi was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City, Iowa; the Trinity Lutheran Alter Guild Circle, Mother's Club and the PTA of Plymouth.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Lavern R Hanson will officiate. Burial will be at Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery.
