Rosemary C. McCarthy, age 94, of Osage, died Monday, June 15, 2015, at Osage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Osage.
Cremation has taken place.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Father Raymond Burkle officiating. Following the memorial service, there will be a time for lunch and fellowship at the Osage American Legion Hall. Inurnment will take place at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in New Haven following the lunch.
Rosemary was born November 21, 1920, in New Haven, Iowa, the daughter of William and Rose (Cheney) Gilles. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in New Haven in 1939. She then worked as a cook at St. Mary’s School.
On September 19, 1944, Rosemary married Daniel McCarthy at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in New Haven. They farmed on the family farm northeast of New Haven until moving to Osage in 1981. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the Women’s Benefit Association. Rosemary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Rosemary is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ervin “Pete” Hagen of Osage, Carmen and Ben Johansen of Fairfax, Virginia, and Karen and Dwaine Heimer of Stacyville; grandchildren, Todd Miller and his wife, Patti of rural Osage, Erik Loften and fiancée, Kate Greene of Washington, D.C., Brian Heimer and his wife, Larissa of Cedar Rapids, and Kristy Mayer and her husband, Justin of Cedar Falls; great-grandchildren, Kara, Laura, Erin and Mary Miller, and Urijah and Alissa Heimer; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Daniel McCarthy in 2005.
