Oscar Alvin Olson was born September 15, 1892 at Park River, Walsh, North Dakota to Bernt (Ben) C Olson and Helena Antonson, the second of their eight children. When Oscar was just four years old, his father decided to return the family to Norway to live. They were there for only six months when the father decided to return to America. The family settled on a farm in Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Found in the 1900 - 1910 censuses living on his father's farm at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1900: Ben C Olsen 46, Helena Olsen 30, Alma J Olsen 10, Oscar A Olsen 7, Laura C Olsen 5, Clara H Olsen 2, Martha J Olsen 6 months.

1910: Ben C Olson 56, Helen Olson 40, Oscar I Olson 17, Dorn C Olson 15, Clara Olson 12, Martha Olson 10, Carl Olson 6, Ole Olson 3, Alfred Olson 2 mos.

Sometime between 1910 and 1914, Oscar married Ellen E Miller (1893-1947 or 1942?).

The couple had 2 children: Alverne (1915-1984) and Eloise.

Family found in the 1925 census living at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa: Oscar A Olson 32, Ellen E Olson 31, Abrene B Olson 9, Eloise H Olson 4, Ellen Miller 68, Clarence W Miller 23.

Found in the 1930, 1940 censuses at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa:
1930: Oscar A Olson 37, working at a creamery as a truck driver; Ellen E Olson 37, Alverne B Olson 14, Eloise H Olson 9, Ellen Miller 74.

1940: Oscar A Olson 47, working as a carpenter; Ellen E Olson 47 Eloise H Olson 19.

Oscar A Olson died on January 7, 1967 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.

There is a memorial for him at Find A Grave # 61447022.
