Milton Andreas Motland was born August 11, 1898 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Peter Andreas Ingemundsen Motland and Martha Maakestad, the sixth of their nine children.

Milton was baptized on September 11, 1898 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. His baptismal sponsors were: Mr. & Mrs. Harald Klemesrud and Mr & Mrs Theodore Pederson. Milton was confirmed at RCLC on July 6, 1913.

Found in the 1900 -1925 censuses living on a farm at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1900: Peder A Motland 40, Martha Motland 37, Sara C Motland 8, Ingolf O Motland 6, Milton A Motland 1, Ingvald Mandal 17.

1910: Peter Ingemundsen Andreas Motland 49, Martha Maakestad Motland 47, Sarah Motland 18, Ingolf Motland 16, Milton Motland 11, Clara Motland 9, Alida Nina Motland 4.

1915: Milford Motland age 16.

1920: Ingolf O Motland 26, Peter I Motland 59, Martha Motland 56, Kursti Maakestad 85, Milton E Motland 21, Clara O Motland 19, Rlida N Motland 13.

1925: Peter I Motland 64, Martha Motland 61, Ingolf O Motland 31, Adelia N Motland 48, Milton A Motland 26, Clara O Motland 24, Kriste Maakestad 90.

Milton served in the U.S. Army in 1918. He attended college at St Olaf, Northfield, Minnesota and Harvard in Massachusetts.

Milton married Marjory Hampton (b 1908, d 2007) in 1932 at Waltham, Massachusetts. The couple lived in various places in the northeastern US, Milton working as a financial investment counselor. After retirement, they moved to Florida.

Milton A. Motland died August 13, 1990 at West Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Florida and was buried August 17, 1990 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
