Milton Palmer Motland was born March 19, 1896 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to Peter Andreas Ingemundsen Motland and Martha Maakestad, the fifth of their nine children.

He was baptized on May 10, 1896 at Rock Creek Lutheran Church, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.

Milton Motland died February 12, 1898 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
