Funeral services for Julia Dodge, 91, a lifelong resident of the Osage area, were held on Friday, February 4, at the Champion Funeral Home. She passed away on Tuesday, February 1, 1983, at the White House nursing home.
Rev. G. Hope of the First Baptist Church officiated at the service, and burial was in the Orchard Cemetery, at Orchard, Iowa. Champion Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Julia Andrews Dodge, the daughter of Linzy and Georgia Andrews, was born on a farm east of Orchard on January [not readable] 1892. She attended the rural schools and graduated from the Osage High School in 1909. She taught four years in Mitchell and Floyd county schools.
On August 19, 1914, she married John S. Dodge. They resided on the family farm until March, 1966, when they moved to Osage.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters who died at birth, her parents, and one brother.
She is survived by one son, Dean of Osage; one sister, Lois Balsley of Osage; and one brother, Harold Andrews of Osage; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
