Elizabeth Law was born December 1833 in Canada, to unknown parents who had emigrated to Canada from either Scotland or Ireland.

Elizabeth married Richard T. Torney on February 6, 1862 at Quebec, Canada.

The couple had six children:
unknown name infant;

Edward James (b July 1864 Canada, d April 28,1950 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa);

Albert Richard (b April 3, 1866 Canada, d August 4, 1943 Mitchell, Iowa);

Hugh Alexander (b January 3, 1869 Quebec, Canada, d April 14, 1925 Barron, Wisconsin);

William H (b September 3, 1869 Lodi, Columbia, Wisconsin, d November 14, 1935 Mitchell, Iowa) and

George E (b July 1874 Rock, Mitchell, Iowa, d 1916 Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa).

In 1869, the couple left Rawdon County, Mount Calm, Canada to emigrate to Lodi, Columbia, Wisconsin and before July 1874, moved to Rock, Mitchell, Iowa.

Found in the 1880 - 1915 censuses at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa:
1880: Richard Torney 45, Elizabeth Torney 42, E. J. Torney 15, Albert R. Torney 13, H. A. Torney 12, Willie H. Torney 9, Geo. E. Torney 5, Jane Torney 70.

1885: Richard Torney 49, Edward J Torney 21, Elizabeth Torney 47, Albert R Torney 18, Hogh A Torney 16, Williams H Torney 14, George A Torney 10.

1895: Elizabeth Torney age 60.

1900: Richard Torney 66, Elizabet Torney 66, Hue Torney 32, George Torney 25.

1910: Richard Torney 76, Lissibeth Torney 76, Hugh Alexander Torney 42; 6 children, 5 living. 1915: Mrs Richard Torney age 81.

Elizabeth Torney died July 26, 1918 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.
