Johannes Bernhard John​son (Senior) was born July 4, 1872 at ​Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa to​ Ole Helgesen Johnson ​and Berthe Jensdatter, the fifth of their ten children.​

He was baptized on July 28, 1872 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa and confirmed at same on June 2, 1889.

Found in the 1880. 1885 censuses at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa - going to school.
1880: Ole Johnson 47, Betsy Johnson 42, Helena Johnson 15, Gunnel Johnson 13, Hans Johnson 11, Johannes Johnson 8, Carl Johnson 6, Ole Johnson 2, Maria Johnson 11m, Ole Larson 20.

1885: Oley H Johnson 52, Betsy Johnson 47,Helena Johnson 20, Kenstian Johnson 17, Louis Johnson 15, Johan Johnson 13, Carl Johnson 11, Julias Johnson 7, Maria Johnson 5, Olea Johnson 2.

J B Johnson married Oline Marie H​alvorsdatter Brenden on M​arch 31, 1893 at the Rock ​Creek Lutheran, Meroa,​ Iowa. He was a farmer.

The couple had 3 children:
Oswald Harold (August 12, 1895 - November 8, 1963 Marion, Oregon);
Johan Bernhard (June 10, 1896 - November 18, 1982 Osage, Iowa) and
Gladys Verna (December 10, 1898 - May 23, 1981 Iowa).

1920: J B Johnson 47, Lena Johnson 47, Oswald Johnson 25, Gladys Johnson 21.

1925: J B Johnson 52, Lena Johnson 52, Oswald Johnson 30.

1930: John B Johnson 58, Lena Johnson 57, Oswald H Johnson 36.

J B Johnson died July ​14, 1939 at Cedar, Mitche​ll, Iowa and was buried at the Osag​e City Cemetery, Osage, Mit​chell, Iowa.
