Irvin Bernhard Johnson was​ born October 6, 1895 at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa t​o Hans Lauritz Johnson​ and Carrie Hansdatter​ Peterson Alms, the second of their three sons.

Irvin was baptized on November 17, 1895 at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. His baptismal sponsors were: Johannes Johnson; Ingeborg Pedersen Alms; Gustave Millard Williams and Gunhild Johnson. He was confirmed at RCLC on June 5, 1910.

1900: Lauritz Johnson 30, Kari Johnson 28, Olvin H Johnson 5, Irvin B Johnson 4, Carl Johnson 26, Ole Johnson 67.

1910: Hans Lauritz Johnson 41, Carrie Hansdatter Petersen Alms Johnson 38, Hjalmer Olvin Julius Johnson 15, Irving Johnson 14, Newell Birchard Johnson 6.

1920: Hans L Johnson 50, Carrie Johnson 48, Olvin J Johnson 25, Irvin B Johnson 24, Newell B Johnson 14.

1925: Lauris H Johnson 55, Carrie H Johnson 53, Olvin H Johnson 31, Irvin B Johnson 30, Newell B Johnson 20.

1930: H Lauritz Johnson 60, H Alvin J Johnson 35, Irvin B Johnson 33, Newell Johnson 25, William B Kerley 50.

Found in the 1940 census at Jenkins, Mitchell, Iowa: Newell Johnson 36, Jessie Johnson 33, Corrine Johnson 2, Olvin Johnson 46, Ervin Johnson 45, Clyde Knutson 36.

Irvin moved to Missouri where he worked as a cement contractor. He married Lel​a Barger Simmons on December 1​6, 1942 at Cape Girardeau​, Missouri. The couple had 1 daughter​.

Irvin B Johnson died July 29, 1979 a​t Cape Girardeau, Miss​ouri and was buried at the New Lorimier Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
