ILLNESS FATAL TO MARY LOU TUBBS

Funeral rites for a former Osage woman, Mrs. Charles Tubbs, 53, will be held today, Wednesday, March 18, 1981. Mrs. Tubbs died on March 8, at an Oelwein hospital after an illness of more than two years.

Rev. R. Stone, pastor of the First Congregational Church in mason City, will be in charge of the rites at the Champion Funeral Home here, and burial will be in the Osage Cemetery.

Mary Lou Barnes was born on September 25, 1927, near Maynard, Iowa, the daughter of William H. and Ellen Payne Barnes. She came with her family to Osage in 1929 and graduated from Osage High School in 1945. She was an employee of the Osage Farmers National Bank for ten years.

Charles Tubbs and Mary Lou Barnes were married on October 10, 1948. They operated the Osage Electric Company in Osage with Dwight Morse for a number of years and later became owners of the Fabric Shop here. They later owned and operated a similar business in Mason City until they moved to Oelwein in 1979. Mrs. Tubbs was a member of the First Congregational Church in Mason City.

Surviving are her husband, Charles of Oelwein; a daughter, Laurie, Mrs. Randy Schultz of Creston; one granddaughter; three sisters: June Davis of Osage, Carrie Hoth and Mrs. Eleanor Coleman of Oelwein; nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, one brother, Louis, and a sister, Doris Schatz.
