Dorothy was born on January 29, 1922, to Morris and Mae (Korte) Nicol on the family farm near Little Cedar. On April 22, 1943, she was married to Bernard Hagedorn. To this union, two children, Phyllis and Dennis, were born. Dorothy and Bernard spent their married years farming on the Hagedorn farm near New Haven. They later divorced.

Dorothy then moved to a rural residence near Carpenter, where she would spend over 30 years of her life. In that time, she worked at Tiny’s Tap in Carpenter where she met Dale Bublitz. They married at the Little Brown Church on October 4, 1975. From 1977 through the summer of 1992, Dorothy and Dale owned and operated D & D’s Place in Grafton, where she was the primary cook and Dale tended to the bar.

In early 2007, Dorothy moved from Carpenter to Grafton. During her time there, she treasured all of the visits from her many friends and family members. She enjoyed nothing more than getting a bite to eat or sharing a cup of coffee with those she held dear. Dorothy was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton and a lifelong member of the American Legion Auxiliary (Post 278) of Osage.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale in 2006; her sister, Marilyn Beyer; her son-in-law, Brian Wilde; father-in-law, Harold Bublitz; and many other friends and family members.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Phyllis Wilde of Stratford; son, Dennis (Debbie) Hagedorn of Rockford, Illinois; brothers, Carroll (Lorene) Nicol of Osage and Kenny Nicol of Rockford, Illinois; sisters, Ruby (Bob) Tabor of Del Rio, Texas, and Edna (Marvin) Pitzen of Osage; mother-in-law, Lucille Bublitz of Carpenter; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and many close friends, especially Liz Backhaus, Laurie Nack-Bublitz and Bruce White.
