Nels (Nils) Adolph (Andrew) Isaacs (Isaksen, Isaac) was born February 17, 1878 at Cedar township, Mitchell County, Iowa to Rollef Isaaksen (Robert Isaacs) and Johanna Palm, the third of their seven children. Besides his six siblings (Rakel, Elisabeth, Hannah, Ralph, Clarence and Elmer), he had 5 step-siblings (Rena, Cornelia, Cornelius, Steena and Edward). (His father was married 3 times.)
Found in the 1880 - 1900 censuses living on a farm at Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa:
1880: Robert Isacson 50, Johanna Isacson 28, Susan Isacson 13, Edward Isacson 12, Rachel Isacson 5, Eliesabeth Isacson 4, Nels Isacson 2, Ole Isacson 18, Christoph Paulson 21.
1885: Robert Isaacs 55, Johanna Isaacs 33, Cornelia Isaacs 23, Oley Isaacs 23, Susan Isaacs 18, Edward Isaacs 15, Rachel Isaacs 10, Lessy Isaacs 8, Nels Isaacs 7, Hannah Isaacs 3.
1895: Hele Isaacs age 17 (should be Nels).
1900: Nils A Isaac 22, Robert Isaac 70, Johana Isaac 49, Hannah C Isaac 18, Relph J Isaac 11, Clarence M Isaac 9, Almer K Isaac 5, Elisabeth Finsand 24, Nora J Finsand 3.
Nels married Maud Phoebe Woods on Christmas Day - December 25, 1901, at Mitchell County, Iowa. The couple had 3 daughters.
In 1908, the family moved to Kansas to farm.
Found in the 1910 census at Rock Creek, Butler, Kansas: Nels A Isaac 32, Maude Isaac 32, Hazel Isaac 3, Vera Isaac 1 yr 9 mos.
Found in the 1920 - 1940 censuses at Douglas, Butler, Kansas:
1920: Nels Isaacs 42, Maud Isaacs 34, Hazel Isaacs 13, Vera Isaacs 11, Gail Isaacs 7.
1925: Nels A Isaac 47, Maude Isaac 47, Hazel Isaac 18,Vera Isaac 15, Gail Isaac 12.
1930: Nelse A Isaac 52, Maud P Isaac 52, Vera L Isaac 21, Gail C Isaac 17.
1940: Nels A Isaac 62, Maude Isaac 62.
Nels A Isaacs died October 22, 1946 at Butler, Kansas. He is buried at the Douglass Cemetery, Douglass, Butler, Kansas.
