Funeral services were held September 22, at the Chisholm Funeral Home in Riceville for a former resident of that area, James L. Patterson, 70.
Mr. Patterson died September 20, 1971, at an Iowa City hospital.
The Rev. John Harrell, pastor of the Free Methodist church in Iowa City was in charge and burial was at Riverside cemetery, Riceville.
James Lester Patterson was born June 16, 1901 in Riceville, the son of James and Jennie Mosher Patterson. He was a retired carpenter and lived in Riceville until moving to Iowa City 10 years ago.
Surviving are his wife, Martha, of Iowa City; one step-son, Ronnie Moore of Phoenix, Arizona; one step-daughter, Mrs. Sid Getter (Judy) of Miami, Florida; two grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Leonard McDaniel (Pearl) of Elma.
He was preceded in death by his parents,three brothers, one sister and one step-son.
