FUNERAL HELD FOR
MRS. LARS HETLAND

Funeral services for Mrs. Theresa Marie Hetland, 92 a resident of the Osage Nursing Home for the past two years, were held on Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. Mrs. Hetland died May 13, 1971, at a Mason City hospital.

Rev. Lavern Hanson, church pastor, was in charge of the services.

Theresa Marie Thompson was born on August 16, 1878, in Ossian, Iowa, the daughter of Ole and Laura Brennan Thompson. She attended schools in Ossian and taught in that area.

Lars Hetland and Theresa Thompson were married on August 29, 1904, at Ossian. They lived in Toronto, South Dakota and Ellendale, Minnesota, before moving to Mason City in 1920.

Mrs. Hetland was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years, and in 1957 she was selected Mother of the Year in Mason City.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clifford Lewis (Ruth) of Osage and Mrs. Marvin Lauen (Norma) of Manly; two sons, Herman of Marshalltown and Richard of Winchester, Virginia; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Richard Cranmer (Ethel) of Leguna Hills, California.

Preceding her in death were her husband in 1950, and one son and three daughters.
