Kem Eugene McFarland, age 56, of Osage, died Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at his home due to a lengthy illness of Leukemia.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 6, 2013, at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with Pastor Edward Bard, Chaplain at Hospice of North Iowa officiating. There will be a time for light lunch and fellowship at the V.F.W. in Osage immediately following the services.
Kem was born August 24, 1957, in Osage, the son of Arleigh and Alice (Adams) McFarland. He was raised and attended school in Osage. In 1974, he married Debbie Roberts in Princeton, Missouri, they had two children, Dale and Tonja. Kem then dated Mary Koenings and they had one child, Kimberly. In 1984, he married Brenda Rankin and they had a daughter, Danille. Kem then moved to Arizona, until he returned in 1994. Shortly after moving back, he started working for L.R. Falk, until his illness in 2010. Kem loved being with his family and friends, loved spending time riding his motorcycles, playing with remote control cars and picking on all of his family and friends.
Kem is survived by his son, Dale McFarland of Osage; his two daughters, Kim (Brian) Bird of LeRoy, Minnesota, and Danille McFarland of Marshalltown; his brother, Frank (June) McFarland of Osage; his sister, Phyllis (Terry) Johnson of Carpenter; his fiancee, Diane Baldwin of Osage; his grandchildren, Christian, George, Layne, Isabelle and Jasper; Many nieces and nephews and cousins;
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Tonja; his first wife, Debbie McFarland.
