SERVICES HERE FOR
IRA M. NELSON, 64

Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning for a former Osage resident, Ira Nelson, 64, who died at Long Beach, California on April 16, 1971. Mr. Nelson left here 15 years ago. He died as the result of a heart condition.

Rev. D. Berg, pastor of Rock Creek Lutheran Church was in charge of the services at the Champion Funeral Home. Burial was in the Rock Creek cemetery.

Ira Melvin Nelson was born on December 7, 1906 on a farm in Rock Grove Township, Floyd county, Iowa, the son of Iver N. and Mary Fosholdt Nelson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Rock Creek Lutheran church southwest of Osage. He lived most of his life on the farm where he was born in the Rock Creek community. Later he moved to Osage, in the late 1940's, and then to Long Beach area in the late 1950's.

He was married to Jean Pursell in 1955. She preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ethel, and by his parents.

He leaves to mourn, two maternal aunts, Isabelle and Elizabeth Fosholdt of Long Beach, California and numerous cousins.
