The Mitchell County News reports a terrible calamity which befell the family of W. A. Swain last week Friday. A little daughter, four years old, was playing about the premises, and after being unobserved for a few moments only was found dead in the yard.

Upon post mortem examination it was found that the child died from the effects of poison. How or where the little girl procured the poison is unknown.
