FAIRMONT, MINNESOTA - Fred S. Novak, 75, of Fairmont, Minn. passed away on Tuesday morning, October 1, 2013, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont. Memorial Visitation for Fred will be 12-2 p.m. on Friday, October 4, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Frederick Stanley Novak was born on July 6, 1938, in Osage. He was the son of Stanley and Edith (Nelson) Novak. He graduated from Osage High School and furthered his education in Chicago.
On Dec. 10, 1982, Fred was united in marriage to Della Eltgroth in Tucson, Arizona. The couple resided in Tucson before moving to Boulder, Colo. The couple later moved to Yuma, Arizona, after they retired. They spent the winters there and lived in Fairmont during the summer months. Fred and Della shared thirty-two years together.
Fred worked at IBM as a Design Engineer until his retirement in 1996. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at IBM. He then returned to IBM to work as a contractor for another ten years. During his free time, Fred enjoyed traveling with Della, fishing, ATV riding and golfing. He most loved the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory include his wife, Della Novak of Fairmont, Minnesota; children, Mike Novak and his wife, Dona, of Rochester, Minnesota, and Kim Ross and her husband, Mike, of Rochester, Minnesota; step-children, Brad Scheff of Fairmont, Minnesota, Curt Scheff of Fairmont, Minnesota, Bryan Olson of Fairmont, Minnesota, Jim Olson of Milaca, Minnesota, and Julie Stob and her husband, Don, of Milaca, Minnesota; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Ron Novak and his wife, Anita, of Des Moines; many other relatives and friends.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Edith Novak.
