Funeral services were held Thursday, August 28, 1986 for Mrs. George (Viola) Smolik, 75, of Osage, at the First Baptist Church in Osage. She died on Monday, August 25, 1986 at an Osage nursing home. Rev. Jerry Newland and Rev. John Gilbert officiated, and burial was in the Osage Cemetery.
Mrs. Smolik was born on March 1, 1911 in Burr Oak Township, Mitchell county, Iowa, to Mr. and Mrs. Clint Carrison. She attended rural schools in Mitchell county and graduated from Osage High School. She also attended Hamilton Business College in Mason City for one year. On August 11, 1931, she and George Smolik were united in marriage in Osage. They farmed in Mitchell County their entire life. For the past ten years Mrs. Smolik has lived at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage.
Survivors include her husband, Geroge of Osage; four sons: Marvin, Wayne and Allen, all of Osage, and Dean of Iowa Falls; ten grandchildren and three sisters: Bertha Mitchell of Osage, Doris Hoisington of Orchard and Gladys Putnam of Little Cedar.
