Peter Theobald – October 31, 1893 – June 16, 1971

Funeral services were held at Visitation Catholic church, Stacyville, Saturday afternoon for Peter Theobald. Mr. Theobald died at Mitchell County Memorial Hospital Wednesday, June 16, at the age of 77, following four weeks of illness.

The Funeral Mass was said by Very Rev. Msgr. Arthur A. Halbach of Delhi with Visitation pastor Rev. Joseph Griffin assisting. Burial was in the Visitation cemetery with Hatten & Son Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were Ray Halbach, Francis Mayer, Herbert Brumm, Vincent Miller, Larry Huemann and Jerome Halbach.

Peter Theobald was born October 31, 1893 in Stacyville Township, the son of Joseph and Anna Winkels Theobald. He was married to Pauline Halbach on April 8, 1920 at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. They farmed in St Ansgar Township until retiring to their home in Stacyville in 1955. He served as Stacyville town marshal for seven years.

Peter was a member of St. Joseph's Society of Visitation Church and a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline and two sons, Ambrose of Stewartville, Minn., and James of San Diego, California; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Mary Mayer of Osage, and a half-sister, Mrs. Rose Huemann of Stacyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, a half- brother, John and half- sister, Catherine Miller.
