Gerhard Chester Benjamin Goplerud was born November 19, 1894, at Rock, Mitchell, Iowa to Christopher Christoffersen Goplerud and Anna Kjerstine Hundeby, the second of their three children.
Gerhard was baptized at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa on December 23, 1894. His baptismal sponsors were: Christopher C. Goplerud & wife; John Goplerud & Oline Goplerud.
Gerhard was a private in the US Army and fought in World War 1.

1900: Christopher Goplerud 37, Anna Goplerud 33, Christopher G Goplerud 8, Gerhard C Goplerud 5, Hans Kaldahl 34, Albert Berstad 26, Alfred Hogen 15.
1910: Christopher Christoffersen Goplerud 47, Anna Goplerud 43, Christopher Gunerius Goplerud Jr 18, Gerhard Chester Benjamin Goplerud 15, John Harold Goplerud 9.
1915: Gerhard Goplerud age 20.

Gerhard married Vesta Lulu Decker on October 10, 1923 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had 3 children.

Gerhard's 2nd marriage was to Beatrice Titterud Landborg.
He married a third time to Elsa Ruth Kuehn Laughlin on November 6, 1965 Iowa.
Gerhard Goplerud died September 15, 1981 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and was buried at Osage City Cemetery, Osage, Mitchell, Iowa.
