FORMER OSAGE RESIDENT
BURIED IN CALIFORNIA
FRIDAY, DECEMBER 16, 1949
Funeral services for Frank Albert Cotter, 72, former Osage resident, were held at Santa Monica, California, Friday, December 16, 1949, according to an article in a Santa Monica newspaper.
He died at his home in Santa Monica Monday, December 12, following a heart attack. He is survived by a stepdaughter, Mrs. Dora Smith, of Santa Monica.
Mr. Cotter, who grew to manhood in Osage and married Dolly Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Smith, was a farmer in Mitchell county for several years before moving to California, where he became a rancher. He had been a resident of Santa Monica for 30 years.
Mr. Cotter was the son of Cyrus and Sarah Cotter, early settlers in Osage, who built and occupied the large brick house south of the Osage library. Cyrus Cotter, who was in partnership with M.V. Nichols, built many of Osage's first buildings and owned several farms throughout the county.
