Emil August Herman Marcks – July 7, 1882 – March 16, 1969
Emil August Herman Marcks was born July 7, 1882 in Mitchell County, Iowa,the son Ernest Friedrich Ludwig Marcks, Louise Wilhelmine Friedrike Wilde Marcks.
Emil came to North Dakota from St. Ansgar,Iowa in March of 1904. He worked for one year and rented land for two years. In 1906 he purchased the W. F. Chapman farm in Ayr Township and moved there in 1907.
The same year he married Laura Pierce, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Louise (Cole) Pierce, and they continued to make their home on the farm until their death in 1969.
They had four children; Mrs. Louise Walks, Billings, Montana; Dorothy (Mrs. Chas. Larcom), Chelan, Washington; Norman who reside on the farm at Buffalo; and Margaret, a missionary in Japan.

Note* Emil and Laura are buried in the Buffalo Cemetery, Buffalo, Cass County, North Dakota. Emil died March 16, 1969 and Laura died April 11, 1969
