LAST RITES FOR
ST. ANSGAR MAN
WERE HELD SUNDAY

Funeral services for A.E. Beadell of St. Ansgar, 87, were held Sunday afternoon, August 28, 1949, at the Jordan chapel in Austin, Minnesota. The Rev. L. Sandgren officiated and burial was made in the Lansing cemetery, with Masonic rites at the graveside. Mr. Beadell died last Thursday at the St. Olaf Hospital in Austin where he was taken when he became ill.

Alvah Elester Beadell was born on November 4, 1861, at Berlin, Wisconsin, to Mr. and Mrs. Luther Beadell. His early years were spent in Wisconsin. In 1887 he was married to Mary Ann Newcomer, and one daughter, Mayre E., was born to them. His wife died in June 1889.

Later Mr. Beadell came west, locating at Lansing, Minnesota. He was married to Bessie M. Soule of Lansing on June 15, 1893. Five sons and one daughter were born to this union. In 1919 the family moved to Austin where Mr. Beadell was active in city affairs. he was at one time an alderman at large, and was secretary for the Mower county Agriculture Association for several years.

In 1929 he began working for the Hormel company as stock buyer at St. Ansgar, which he continued until he retired at the age of 85. He was a member and past master of A.F. & A.M. Lodge at Lansing.

After the death of his wife on September 8, 1942, he moved to St. Ansgar where he lived the rest of his life.

Surviving are four sons, Lester, who lived with his father, Edwin of Mankato, Minnesota, Don of Austin, and Walter of Chicago; two daughters, Mayre E. and Mrs. Richard (Helen) Lukes of Waterloo; eight grandchildren an done great-grandson.
