Funeral services were conducted for John Wiger at his home at 3:45 and at the First Lutheran church at 4 o'clock on August 14, 1945. The Rev. O.A. Langehough was in charge of the obsequies with burial in the First Lutheran cemetery.
John Wiger was born June 28, 1864, son of Andreas and Andrine Wiger in Lier, Norway. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church in Norway and came to Mitchell county, Iowa in 1883, and on December 20, 1888, he was united in marriage to Margit Thorson, who preceded him in death five years ago.
They lived on a farm 3 miles northwest of St. Ansgar, known as the Fulton place, and later purchased the place now owned by Clifford Thorson. In 1919 they retired from the farm, having purchased a home in St. Ansgar.
Mr. Wiger was an active member of the First Lutheran Congregation and served a number of years as trustee and deacon.
On March 29th he fell and fractured his hip and has been confined to his bed since then. He passed away on Ausgust 10th, having attained the age of 81 years.
He leaves to mourn his demise two sisters in Norway, one nephew, CasseL Danielson of Grand Forks, North Dakota, besides a host of other relatives and friends.
