AUSTIN -- The funeral for Beryl I. Mielke was at 1:30 p.m. today at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. The Rev. Dennis Tamke officiated. Interment was in Grandview Cemetery, Austin.

Mrs. Mielke, 95, of Austin, died Friday (Aug. 10, 2007) at Our House Assisted Living in Austin.

Beryl Irene Smalley was born June 13, 1912, in Osage, Iowa. She attended normal school in Osage. She worked at Geo. A. Hormel & Co. for several years. On Dec. 15, 1934, she married Louis William Mielke in Austin. They made their home in Austin for more than 60 years. For more than 20 years they spent summers at a cabin near Backus, Minn., and wintered in Florida. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Women's Circle, as well as the local PTA, and enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting. On June 1, 2006, she moved to St. Mark's Lutheran Home in Austin, then moved to Our House Assisted Living on June 1, 2007.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol (William) Sheely of Austin and Nancy (Thornton) Pratt of Brodhead, Wis.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Bessie Miller of Austin, and June Eskew and Ruby Davis, both of California. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 3, 2001, a brother and five sisters.

Worlein Funeral Home of Austin assisted the family with arrangements.
