RICEVILLE WOMAN
DIED FRIDAY AFTER
LINGERING ILLNESSFuneral services for Mrs. Minnie Tyrrell, 76, were held at the Leper Funeral Home in Riceville, Monday, July 11, 1949, with Rev. E. Bodenham officiating. Burial was made in the Riverside cemetery at Riceville.
Mrs. Tyrrell died on Friday, July 8, 1949, at the country home at Osage, where she had been cared for the last year.
Minnie Weidhof was born in Clayton county in 1873. She moved as a child with her parents to Chickasaw county and lived near New Hampton until her marriage to Asa Wilmot.
She was later married to Oscar Tyrrell and they moved to Riceville in 1900, living west of the cemetery where the William Goodbrand family now lives. Five children were born to this union: Ada, Mary, George, Herbert and Lucy.
In the following years, circumstances forced the breakup of the family, the children being adopted by different families. Mrs. Tyrrell then went to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Inwards, who befriended and cared for her for 25 years.
Following the death of Mrs. Inwards, she remained to keep house for Mr. Inwards and his brother-in-law, John Butler, at their home in Riceville, as long as she was able.
