LAST RITES FOR
CLAIR BUTTERS
WERE HELD MONDAY

Funeral services for Clair Butters, 30, were held Monday afternoon, July 18, 1949, at the Champion Funeral Home with Rev. O. Mellquist officiating. Burial was made in the Mitchell cemetery. Mr. Butters died Saturday morning at an Independence hospital where he had been a patient for five years.

Clair Butters was born May 12, 1919 to Albert and Myrtle Lovejoy (Gibeaut) Butters, at Mitchell, Iowa. As a young man he was employed in farming and for the telephone company. He suffered a nervous breakdown while in the hospital. Tuberculosis was the cause of his death.

He is survived by his mother, of Osage; one sister, Mrs. Arnold Kowalsky of Osage; and three brothers: Leslie of Charles City, Louis of Riceville, and Harland of Osage. There are also a half-brother, Roy Gibeaut of Osage, and a half-sister, Mrs. Maurice Donner of St. Paul, who survive.
