THOMPSON, Bereth N. (Ruh) 1832-1917

Bereth Thompson, whose maiden name was Bereth N. Ruh, was born at Sigdal, Norway, March 28, 1832. She came to America in 1849 and lived with her parents for a while at Jefferson Prairie, Ill. In 1851 they moved to Winnesheik Co., Iowa and in 1855 to Mitchell Co., Iowa.

In 1854 she was married to Hans Helgeson. Her husband was killed in the Civil War. In 1866 she was married to Christen Thompson. For some years they farmed near Lyle but for the last 44 years they have lived at St. Ansgar.

Mrs. Thompson has been ailing for some time but last Saturday she was taken very sick and died Monday, May 14.

The funeral was held at the U.N.L. church, Rev. Waldeland officiating May 17th. Burial was in the Norwegian Lutheran cemetery.

The following relatives were present at the funeral.

Most heartily do I appreciate the kindness and sympathy shown me during my wife's sickness. Hearty thanks are extended for these and all other tokens of kindness to me in my bereavement.
