Olava Finsand was born February 19, 1872 at Albany, Green, Wisconsin to Tosten Olsen Finsand and Margarethe Halvorsdatter, the oldest of their twelve children. Olava was baptized in Wisconsin. Her family moved to Rock township, Mitchell County, Iowa about 1872 and lived a short while before buying land in Cedar township, Mitchell County, Iowa.
Olava was confirmed at the Rock Creek Lutheran Church at Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa on June 5, 1887.
She married Olaus George Moe on October 6, 1895 at Rock Creek Lutheran, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa. The couple had 5 children:
Mabel Georgine (October 4, 1896 - December 7, 1976),
Olvin Herbert (January 31, 1898 - October 29, 1967),
Clarence Leonard (August 27, 1900 - August 5, 1979),
Edward Frederick (June 30, 1903 - July 12, 1979)and
Alice Olga (March 16, 1910 - May 5, 2004).
Olava (Finsand) Moe died November 11, 1958 at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa and is buried at the Rock Creek Lutheran Cemetery, Meroa, Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
