Funeral services for Rufus Priem, 70, of St. Ansgar were held Thursday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville. Mr. Priem died July 9, 1968 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester.
The Rev. William Kamke officiated. Burial was in the Priem family cemetery in Newburg township.Rufus Rudolph Priem was born March 13, 1898, in Newburg township, Mitchell County, the son of Ferdinand and Louise Gerlach Priem. He attended the rural school in Newburg township.
He was confirmed by the Rev. Landeck March 20, 1921. Mabel Bublitz and Rufus Priem were married November 7, 1920, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton by the Rev. Carl Landeck. They lived on a farm near St. Ansgar for 12 years, after which they moved to his mother's farm, living there until 1946 at which time they purchased a farm near Toeterville, and lived there until 1966, when they retired to St. Ansgar.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Toeterville.
Mr. Priem entered Mitchell County Memorial Hospital June 24th and then was transferred to Methodist Hospital in Rochester on July 8th.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel, St. Ansgar, two sons, Arthur (Sara) and Raymond (Mildred), both of Carpenter, two daughters, Fern (Harold) Bond, Mason City, and Sylvia (Harold) Buringrud, Fairfield, CA; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Irwin of Austin, MN; three sisters including his twin Resina (Milton) Merkel, Spring Valley, MN, Edna (Michael) Brandt, Austin, MN, and Esther (Lawrence) Rosenberg, St. Ansgar.
His parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
