Lydia Bublitz was born on September 28, 1877. Her parents were Frederick and Emily Mielke Krueger. She was the second of their three children. Her birthpalce was a farm northeast of St. Ansgar of St. Ansgar. On the second day after her birth she was baptized at St. Ansgar and named Lydia Alvina Henriette.
When Lydia was one year old, her parents moved to a farm northwest of Grafton. There she was reared with her brother and sister, and educated in the rural school. On March 22, 1891, she was confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Grafton by the Rev. O. Nitardy.
On November 13, 1895, she was married to Leo F. Bublitz. The couple made their home on a farm they purchased northeast of Grafton. There they brought up their seven children and lived for ten years in retirement from active farming until Leo died in 1950. They spent 54 years on the same farm which is still in possession of the family.
The widowed Mrs. Bublitz then took leave of her farm home and lived with her children here and there, mostly in Osage, but also in Toeterville and Grafton, and for about three months in California. During these latter years she was in poor health.
