Halvor Olsen Springer was born in Rolloug Parish, Numedal, Norway, July 5, 1828, and came to America, when about 20 or 21 years of age. He came first to Rock Prairie, Wisconsin and on February 22, 1856 he was there married to Miss Raenhild Jensen, who survives him. In the same year they came to Mitchell county, Iowa, and settled upon the farm in Otranto township and resided on the same there until his death. He has always enjoyed good health, excepting some slight trouble from rheumatism until last spring, but his health was rather poor through the summer and seven weeks previous to his death he was taken with typhoid maleria fever which was the cause of his death. Nine children were born to them of whom eight are living. These are Jens, who lives in Buxon, N. Dakota, Halvor, Nels, Christian, Christina, Randine, the wife of Olaus O. Grovo, Julia and Carl G. All were present at the funeral except Jens. The funeral was held at the Norwegian Lutheran church at St. Ansgar on Monday, November 29 and was conducted by Rev. J. Olsen. Burial was at the church cemetery.

Last Saturday the tolling of the Norwegian Lutheran Church bell announced the death of another old resident of this secton, Mr. Halvor O. Springer who died at nooon on Friday. He was 69 years of age. The funeral was held at the St. Ansgar church on Monday conducted by Rev. Olsen.St. Ansgar Enterprise
