Ole Severson was born at Gol, Hallingdahl, Norway, February 22, 1837. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church of his home parish. He came to St. Ansgar in the spring of 1865 and moved to his homestead west of Carpenter in 1870. On June 14, 1870, he married Julia Golberg. This union was blessed with seven children: namely, Andrew Severson, Mrs. Lena Hanson, Nicolai Severson, Lyle, Minn., Sam Severson, Mrs. Annie Fausett, deceased, Henry Severson, Enderlin, N.D., Mrs. Lillie Knuntz, Hayfield, Minn.

In 1897, he moved to St. Ansgar where he lived until 1909 when he moved to Carpenter.

He was taken sick with pneumonia last winter and was then sick for two months. He never regained full vigor since that attack though he was up and around the most of the time till a short time ago. Quite recently, he was attacked by hemorrhages of which he had four, the last proving fatal. His death thus came unexpectedly even to those nearest and dearest to him. He died on the morning of December 7th, 1918.

He leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife, six children and nineteen grandchildren.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. M.E. Waldeland at Carpenter and his remains were taken to St. Ansgar and laid to rest at the Evergreen Lutheran Cemetery.
