Peter N. Syverud was born at Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, January 30, 1855 and came to Mitchell county with his parents in 1869, where he received his education and was confirmed at St. Ansgar.

His life was spent in Iowa, Kansas and North Dakota. In 1882 he homesteaded near Osnabrock, North Dakota, with his brother and together they went into the mercantile business in 1898. Since 1912 he has retired from active business, but still made his home at Osnabrock. North Dakota. He died at the Deaconess Hospital Grand Forks, North Dakota, September 16, 1922 and at his request, the remains were brought here for burial beside his relatives.

He is survived by his sisters, Mrs. P. Nordbo, of Eagle Grove, Mrs. E. Hegg of Osage, and Miss Pauline, and brother, Ole, of this place.

The funeral was conducted at the First Lutheran Church September 19, Rev. M.E. Waldeland officating and his remains were laid to rest at the Evergreen Cemetery north of St. Ansgar.

Present from away to attend the funeral were Mr. Edgar Syverud and Nels Syverud, of Dagmar, Montana, both nephew of the deceased.
