B. M. CLEVELAND
DEAD AT OSAGE

FORMER TRAVELING MAN WELL
KNOWN IN WATERLOO

Worked for Fowler Co. - Father
of Local Architect

The news in this city of the death of Mr. B. M. Cleveland, who for many years has been connected with the firm of Fowler & Company, will be received with genuine regret and sorrow by many.

Mr. Cleveland was a man of prominence in his line of business and was always a welcome visitor to the firms who gave him their patronage.

His death in Osage at 10:45 last night at the Cleveland Hotel, although not altogether unexpected, was a shock to his many friends. Mr. Cleveland had been suffering for some time from a nervous breakdown and had been forced to give up his duties on the road for a more quiet life.

He has been greatly missed by his patrons, who have anxiously hoped for his recovery, but all efforts at restoration have failed and he has had to give up the battle for a longer life.

Mr. Cleveland was born in Wisconsin in 1860. When 20 years of age he was married to Miss Lulu Burnham at her home in Charles City. A few years later the family moved here and Mr. Cleveland became associated with the Fowler company, wholesale grocers of this city, with whom he has remained ever since a long and faithful service, from 1885 to the time of his retirement from business, two years ago.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge here, and holds the office of past potentate of El Kahir Temple at Cedar Rapids.

Besides his widow, Mr. Cleveland leaves a son, Mortimer B. Cleveland of Waterloo, a daughter, Miss Ruth, and two sisters, Mrs. E. L. Speiche of La Crosse, Wis., and Miss S. E. Cleveland of Osage.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at the Cleveland Hotel, and he will be buried in the family lot in the Osage Cemetery with Masonic honors.
