RUDD, IOWA - Raymond Charles Norby, age 75, of Rudd, died Sunday, September 9, 2012, at Mitchell County Regional Health Center in Osage.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Rudd with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse and Pastor Wendy Johannsen officiating. Burial will be at the Rock Creek Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage.
Ray was born on August 6, 1937, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Tillman Johannes and Gea Mabel (Field) Norby. He graduated from Rudd High School. Ray served his country in the Army Reserves.
Ray was united in marriage to Nancy Lee Bromley on April 9, 1961, at Rock Creek Lutheran Church in rural Osage. He was a farmer all of his life. Ray was a Floyd County Master Pork Producer. He enjoyed farming, John Deere equipment and camping.
Ray is survived by his wife, Nancy Norby of Rudd; three children: Vicki (Brett) Oetken of Le Mars and children, Sarah, Lindsey and Nathan Oetken, Russell Norby of Rudd, Brenda (Kevin) Sutcliffe of Mason City and children, Kaitlin and Keith Sutcliffe; a brother, John (Bonnie) Norby of Osage; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Harold Norby; and an infant grandson, Matthew Oetken.
