Mary J. Dargan was born January 1, 1893 at Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa to John Edward Dargan and Mary Ann Conlin, the tenth of their eleven children.

She married Mark Joseph Sloan on September 8, 1919 at Waterloo, Black Hawk, Iowa; the couple had two children, a daughter Margaret and a son Mark [his obituary appears at this website].

Mary Sloan died September 1985 at Des Moines, Polk, Iowa, and was buried at the Calvary Cemetery at Riceville, Mitchell, Iowa.

1910: John Dargan 69, Mary A. Dargan 60, Thomas Dargan 41, James Dargan 27, Mary Dargan 17. 1915: Mary Dargan 21. Working as a postal clerk at the Riceville Post Office; finished 8th grade.
1920: John E. Dargan 78, Mary A. Dargan 70, Mark J. Sloan 31, Mary Sloan 27.
