(Died June 13, 2012)

Joan M. Kenny, age 90, of Osage, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the Faith Home in Osage.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18, 2012, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage with Father Jack McClure, CPPS, officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Champion-Bucheit Funeral Home in Osage with a rosary at 5:00 pm and a prayer service at 8:00 pm.

Joan was born August 13, 1921, on the family farm west of Osage, in Mitchell County, the daughter of Earl and Gladys (Erbe) Tubbs. Joan attended rural schools and St. Ansgar schools, graduating from Osage High School in 1939. She worked as a nanny for Dr. Merrill Eiel. Joan moved to Texas in 1941, where she lived with an aunt and uncle and took secretarial courses at the Federal Institute. She then worked for the Monsanto Company in Karnack, Texas.

Joan moved to Osage and worked for Western Union for two years. She then moved to Crawfordsville, Indiana where she taught teleprinting. Joan returned to Osage in 1947, working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company and as an office manager for Montgomery Ward. She worked for many years at the two local nursing homes. She was united in marriage to Bill Kenny on May 4, 1950, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. Joan lived in Osage, raising her family. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Ladies Guild, of which she served as treasurer. She loved to read, play cards, and was an avid sports fan and followed the Twins, Vikings and Cubs. Joan appreciated her Faith Home family and the loving care she received there.

Joan is survived by her son, Tom (Eve) Kenny of Osage and their children, McCabe and Connell; her son, Bob (Sue) Kenny of Mason City and their children, Adam and Danielle; her daughter, Mary (Randy) Hanke of Stacyville and their children, John, Luke and Christopher; and a brother, Charles Tubbs of Oelwein.
